HIV/AIDS AWARENESS

AIM OF THE MODULE

The aim of this module is to equip individuals to make informed choices about their attitudes and behaviours towards HIV/AIDS. The programme is designed to create a wider understanding of the pandemic and to provide a better understanding of the myths associated with the disease. On completion the participants will have gained an understanding of universal precautions and the need for a healthy diet.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On completion of this module the learner will be able to:

  • Describe the difference between HIV and AIDS
  • Identify signs and symptoms of HIV/AIDS
  • Explain the impact of substance abuse
  • Practice universal precautions
  • Demonstrate an understanding of transmission routes of HIV/AIDS
  • Understand the significance of counselling and disclosure
