BASIC BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

AIM OF THE MODULE

This module provides an introduction to the skills required for running a successful small business. The focus is on knowledge, skills, values and attitudes in relation to the work environment in a small or emerging business. On completion the learner will be able to analyze a small business and make recommendations for improvements.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On completion of this module the learner will be able to:

• Manage business operations
• Demonstrate an understanding of administration and record keeping
• Compile a marketing plan for a small business
• Analyze costs and calculate mark-ups
• Introduce a budgeting system for a small business
• Develop a business plan for a small business
• Develop and maintain a basic marketing plan
• Manage finances for a new venture
