FRAIL CARE / HOME BASED CARE

AIM OF THE MODULE

This course is of value to community based workers who deal with the elderly and infirm or for care givers who provide assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS. Learners who successfully complete this module will be able to provide fundamental nursing care for a frail person on a continuous basis under the direction of a qualified health worker.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On completion of this module the learner will be able to:

• Compile a code of conduct
• Administer basic medication
• Check for vital signs
• Treat and handle minor emergencies
• Maintain the living environment of a frail care patient
• Attend to the personal needs of a frail care patient
• Assess the patient's situation and assist and support the family
