PEER EDUCATOR
AIM OF THE MODULE
This module will provide community based workers with the skills to train their peers and to create a better understanding of HIV/AIDS. Participants are introduced to the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS and the affects of the pandemic on their community. This module provides guidelines for the training of voluntary community workers in a workshop environment as peer educators.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On completion of this module the learner will be able to:
- Educate peers on HIV/AIDS prevention
- Educate peers through structured workshops
- Interact in a meaningful way in the community
- Introduce interventions that can result in lifestyle changes
- Reflect on own attitude towards HIV and AIDS
- Outline the rights of people living with HIV and AIDS
- Explain practices which reduce and prevent risk of infection of HIV/AIDS
- Describe and analyze beliefs and attitudes towards HIV and AIDS in the community
