AIM OF THE MODULE

This module will provide community based workers with the skills to train their peers and to create a better understanding of HIV/AIDS. Participants are introduced to the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS and the affects of the pandemic on their community. This module provides guidelines for the training of voluntary community workers in a workshop environment as peer educators.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On completion of this module the learner will be able to:

  • Educate peers on HIV/AIDS prevention
  • Educate peers through structured workshops
  • Interact in a meaningful way in the community
  • Introduce interventions that can result in lifestyle changes
  • Reflect on own attitude towards HIV and AIDS
  • Outline the rights of people living with HIV and AIDS
  • Explain practices which reduce and prevent risk of infection of HIV/AIDS
  • Describe and analyze beliefs and attitudes towards HIV and AIDS in the community
